Liz Smith

Associate Principal - Pathways, Partnerships and Innovation

In 2014 Liz commenced as Associate Principal of Joseph Banks Secondary College, in preparation for the foundation year in 2015.
In her role as Associate Principal, Liz works with teachers to lead the ongoing development of literate, numerate and curious learners, through the provision of a broad based 21st century curriculum.

Liz is an experienced educational leader, having worked as a deputy principal in a range of metropolitan schools in Perth, Western Australia. In all of her previous positions; as a classroom teacher, a district curriculum officer, a team leader within the middle years and as an educational consultant, Liz works as an instructional leader to link and integrate current research about how people learn with classroom practice.

In her current leadership position, Liz leads Pathways, Partnerships and Innovation at the college, including STEM and the development of a Space Science Education Centre.

Liz has led professional learning in curriculum design, best practice teaching and learning, whole school literacy, leadership development and coaching practices to build and sustain capacity within schools to develop high quality teacher practice and to improve educational outcomes for students.

Liz is also an active member of the WASSEA Management Committee.
