Joseph Banks Secondary College is proud to partner with the CoRE Learning Foundation to introduce the program to our school. This is a specialist integrated STEAM program which focuses on exploring, and using technological advances in the mining and resource industry.
CoRE has links with Curtin University, WA School of Mines, and a range of Industry partners. It is a highly acclaimed, STEAM approach to learning, that has been running successfully at Kent Street SHS since 2005. We look forward to working with classroom teachers, school leaders and the whole school community to pioneer this approach in the North Metropolitan region.
The focus at Joseph Banks Secondary College will also include the exploration of extra-terrestrial landscapes, linking to our college goal to establish a Space Centre in the future.
The CoRE Program will equip students with a range of skills including problem solving, creativity, teamwork, communication, leadership and intercultural understanding.
The CoRE program at Joseph Banks Secondary College will roll out to students starting Year 7 in 2020. A launch event will be held at Joseph Banks Secondary College on the 7th November 2019 to celebrate the program’s inauguration.
We would like to extend an invitation to come and learn about this exciting venture. The event is open to prospective parents and students starting in year 7 in 2020, schools, educators, industry professionals, businesses and community groups.
