Course Information

Develop and refine your skills in drawing and painting while exploring how these two-dimensional practices can evolve into three-dimensional forms. This course will strengthen your foundational skills in drawing from observation and imagination, experimenting with a range of painting techniques. You will explore traditional and contemporary approaches to artmaking, working with materials such as charcoal, ink, acrylics, and mixed-media on traditional and non-traditional painting surfaces. Through these techniques, you will develop a deeper understanding of composition, form, and space to create dynamic, expressive artworks.

This course may also touch on other art disciples such as printmaking and ceramics to help explore the ideas you are exploring in your paintings in a different art discipline.

The theoretical component of this course explores art in both historical and contemporary contexts, incorporating influences from diverse cultures. You will analyse and interpret artistic styles, engaging in discussions that develop critical thinking and artistic curiosity.
