Domain: Technologies
Timetable: Trimester 1
Length of Course: 1 Trimester

Course Information

The F1 in School Technology Challenge is the world’s largest secondary school technology elective. It involves over nine million students from 17,000 schools in 31 nations.

If you select to participate in the F1 in School Technology Challenge you will work in small project teams to design a F1 model race car made from balsa wood using CAD software and then manufacture your car on a CNC router to race against other schools in Western Australia and potentially against other schools around Australia in the National Finals.

At the same time your project teams will document the entire process in a portfolio which includes information about: your team identity, logo and team uniform, research into the science behind F1 racing and how you applied research to your design, your design process and use of engineering software, including marketing of your team and sponsorship/fundraising strategies, connections with industry and mentors, testing of your car design and the production of an octagonal drawing of your car

The Formula 1 in Schools Technology Challenge builds your strengths in: public speaking, project planning, development and management, resource procurement, industry links, graphic design and manufacturing engineering; including personal and employability skills, team work, time and resources management.
