This Year 9 elective will build and expand upon the introductory metalwork hand and machine skills covered in Year 8. You will be familiarised with a variety of new machines and their safe use, including cold sawing metal profiles to length, MIG welding solid steel together, removing waste with an angle grinder and hot forming steel shapes with the oxy acetylene hand piece. Projects to be made include a sheet metal box, a MIG welded model and a design challenge in which you will design; build and spray finish a design of your choice.
