Here’s The Pitch
Recently, the Discovery Centre became the setting for the Year 8 Integrated Studies entrepreneurial presentation evening “Here’s the Pitch”. Aspiring students were thrown into the deep end where they presented their “Shark Tank” styled business pitches to a judging panel of “sharks” in hopes of reeling them in to finish top of the leader board. All students went through a process of identifying a real-world problem and/or gap in the market before developing and delivering an innovative product pitch to address this need. Teams were judged on their overall idea, business planning, marketing and presentation skills.
It was a fabulous evening with nearly 150 people in attendance. Our students demonstrated ingenuity and passion, whilst doing an exceptional job of presenting their best business bait and lines in front of their peers, parents, community members, Department of Education staff, politicians and members of industry and the business and entrepreneurial community.
All participating students were amazing and represented the College with distinction. The judges and parents were very impressed with all of them. Ultimately it was the team from ‘Karen’s Kooking’; Dina Ngyuen, Megan Weinard and Zoe Khama who wowed the judges and took out the competition with a score of 222 points.
We are very much looking forward to do this again next year with our next group of upcoming entrepreneurial stars.
