Learning Hub

Our Learning Hub has been designed to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student with Autism can unlock their unique potential, embrace their strengths, and confidently navigate their educational journey.

Our Learning Hub offers an extremely flexible program where students with can join the Learning Hub for either all or some of their Maths, English, Science, Humanities and Integrated Studies classes. We focus on our literacy, numeracy and social skills through student directed project-based skills.

Students that attend the Learning Hub for some or all of their MESH classes, always remain attached a Learning Community as well. Students will also participate in non-MESH classes and they have the option to participate in our Academy of Excellence classes. This flexibility is what makes our Learning Hub so unique.

Class sizes are kept small (around 8-10 students), and we have a Learning Support Mentor and Teacher for each class. These small classes allow us to cater for any extra individual needs; like further literacy and numeracy support or extension.

There is a strong focus on student wellbeing with the use of social stories and access to a range of resetting strategies, including our sensory room.

Our Learning Hub community of students also get out of the school on regular excursions, using public transport, and shopping for the Hub. Engaging students with a simple outing to a local coffee shop to sit and chat about what is going on in our lives, has proven to a positive and popular experience.

If you would like to speak with us in more detail about what our Learning Hub has to offer, please email the College josephbanks.sc@education.wa.edu.au. Enrolment within the hub is assessed on a student by student basis. In the first instance our dedicated staff will arrange to meet and discuss your child’s needs and suitability to join the Learning Hub.
