Domain: The Arts Timetable: Trimester 1, 2 or 3 Length of Course: 1Trimester
Course Information
In this course you will explore the question “What is Art?” Contemporary art practice is no longer bound to realistic representation and the artist is free to express and explore ideas through whatever methods best communicates them. The re-interpreting of conventional images and concepts has allowed artists to question what has come before, re-interpreting the past and finding their own language to communicate their vision within the art context. You will be introduced to these art practices and challenged to investigate current ideas and beliefs, explore new materials and methods, and respond to your world in a meaningful and creative way. The course will explore a wide range of art materials and techniques to find visual solutions to a problem or theme. Whilst painting and drawing in their various forms are central to the course, you will create a work drawn from one of the following areas: sculpture, ceramics, painting, stencilling, and printmaking.
