Electronics

Domain: Science
Timetable: Trimester 1, 2 or 3
Length of Course: 1 Trimester

Course Information

Are you able to construct a circuit? How many volts does it take to damage a human?

This elective is an introduction to mathematics, physics, and electronics concepts. Students will learn the relationship between resistance, current and voltage using Ohm’s law. This includes using soldering techniques and how electronic components, such as batteries, resistors, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and switches are put together to make an electronic circuit. It will provide students with an excellent foundation for integrated Electronics courses in Year 10. The skills and competencies gathered in Year 9 will also assist students in understanding whether a pathway in the electronics field or electrical trades may be suitable for them.
