Soccer Academy Success
On Tuesday 14 September our Year 9/10 boys Soccer Academy team triumphantly won the Grand Final . It is a huge milestone for the Academy and a trophy that has been 6 years in the making. After having so many talented teams progress into the quarter and semi finals in years gone by, it was a massive achievement to finally go the extra yard and get the win!
Here is how it all went down….
The game started perfectly for us, with Jak Barrett scoring a rocket to settle the nerves early on. Cannington then literally went straight up the park and equalized with a clever goal of their own. After this minor setback, the boys went on the rampage and played some brilliant flowing football. With Lucas Giecco and Cody Woods orchestrating the midfield, the boys created numerous chances, and unlike all of our other semi and quarter finals, these boys made no mistake with their shooting! Further goals from Connor Richards x 2, Weems Lyon, Ryder Leasor and a Jak Barrett Hattrick sealed a very impressive 7-2 victory. The boys were very grounded after the win, and Griffin Sture (el capitano) grabbed the microphone to call up all the players to collect their winners medals, followed by screams of delight at lifting the Shield!
A huge well done to Mr Hollingsworth for his team selection and dedication, and a huge thank you to the players for making it all worth while.
