At the beginning of 2020, we challenged the year 12 cohort to achieve greatness in their pathway. It was no surprise to the staff and community of Joseph Banks Secondary College that our students accepted the challenge, and they smashed it. We were proud to announce that in 2020 91% of our students achieved their WA Certificate of Education (WACE). This achievement is a true reflection of the hard work that our class of 2020 put in throughout their year 12 studies. We have set a similar challenge to our current year 12 cohort, with a target of 96% of students completing their WACE in 2021.

NAPLAN

In 2021 the College has further reviewed its targets around NAPLAN. While we have seen an increase in the number of students achieving Band 8 and higher, particularly in the areas of Reading and Writing, the challenge for us is to improve outcomes for students achieving at a satisfactory level.

Our data shows that we are closing the gap with like schools for Reading and Writing, and as a result will maintain our strategic focus with our Literacy Plan for 2022.

In addition, we have identified Numeracy as an area for improvement and have a targeted Operational Plan that sets out clear actions for school improvement in 2022.
