College Board

The Joseph Banks Secondary College Board is an integral and highly valued part of the College community, playing a key role in shaping the school’s direction and success.

The Board works collaboratively to represent and promote the interests and aspirations of the entire College community. It is committed to supporting, guiding, and monitoring the College’s strategic vision, ensuring that decisions and initiatives align with its goals for excellence in education, student wellbeing, and community engagement.

Governance for boards is based on seven principles:

  1. The roles and responsibilties are clear and understood.
  2. The Board structure and compositions ensures relevant expertise and diversity.
  3. The Board has a strategic focus.
  4. Relevant risks are identified and managed.
  5. Control Systems have integrity and support accountability.
  6. A culture of responsibility and ethical decision making is promoted.
  7. The Board operates effectively.

 

The board has the following functions to take part in:

  • Establishing and reviewing from time to time, the College’s objectives, priorities and general policy directions;
  • The planning of financial arrangements necessary to fund those objectives, priorities and directions;
  • Evaluating the schools performance in achieving them; and
  • Formulating codes of conduct for students at the College.
