Joseph Banks Secondary College runs a one-to-one computing device program to enhance student learning.
Middle School (Years 7-9)
After much research regarding the best technology to use to support the teaching and learning programs at Joseph Banks College, we decided on the Apple iPad as our supported Bring Your Own Designated Device (BYODD) and request that each family support the provision of this for students by acquiring an Apple iPad for their child.
Outlined below are the minimum specifications information you will need and it is important to ensure these are met in order to enable the student to access the internet though the College’s WiFi network as well as accommodating the electronic resources provided by the College.
The downloading of the electronic resources will be enabled through either home internet connections or through the College’s network.
As the device is purchased by the family and is personal property, the College can take no responsibility for the loading of content by students which are deemed inappropriate. Also, insurance coverage for the loss or accidental damage to the device is required and is the responsibility of the parent.
BYODD Minimum Specifications
In 2021 the College will support iPads running iPadOS 13 and above.
A list of compatible devices can be found by clicking here
Specifications Protective Case
|A protective case which provides adequate protection against accidental drops for iPad and screen||STM Dux, Tech 21 or similar|
|The BYODD must be covered by insurance for theft and accidental damage.
For example: This could be arranged through Home and/or Contents Insurance, purchased as a separate Portable Device Insurance policy or a combination of insurance and Apple Care Plus.
You should investigate these options yourself. Joseph Banks Secondary College will not recommend one option over another or broker any arrangements.
