P&C
The Joseph Banks Secondary College Parents’ and Citizens’ Association exists to support the school and school community by organising events, contributing to resource requirements. As an Independent Public School there are many rules regarding what the school can use funding for. The P&C supports the development of school programs and curriculum by providing for some of the resources that the school could otherwise not access.
Examples of how the P&C has contributed over the last years:
- Funded 50% of the Virtual Reality head sets used in classroom activities.
- Funded 50% of the school lockers.
- Raising funds to buy instruments for the Music Program
- Funded 50% of the school portable sound system used for outdoor events and Arts programs.
- Accessed grants to help with funding for various projects.
- Established the school food pantry and continues to maintain stock.
- Worked with the Lions club to purchase a fridge for the school pantry.
- Provides some catering for school events.
- Runs an annual quiz night to bring the school community together and raise funds.
- Trash and treasure fund-raiser.
Research indicates that a strong collaborative school community is a significant factor in student success. The P&C is a key player in building and establishing a strong school community. To join the P&C, fill in an Expression of Interest form and drop it off at the office or come along to our meetings: Monday Week 5 of each term at 6pm at the school office.
