P&C
The Joseph Banks Secondary College Parents and Citizens Association exists to provide additional resources and support for the students’ learning environment, enriching their education and social experiences. As an Independent Public School there are many rules regarding what the school can use funding for.
Examples of how the P&C has contributed since the school opened in 2015:
- Funded 50% of the Virtual Reality head sets used in classroom activities.
- Funded 50% of the school lockers.
- Funded 50% of the school portable sound system used for outdoor events and Arts programs.
- Raised funds to buy instruments for the Music program.
- Provided funding towards the Te Hangi Experience events.
- Part funded outdoor furniture.
- Established the school food pantry and continue to maintain stock.
- Provided funding towards the Fuelled breakfast club initiative since 2023.
- Worked with the Lions club to purchase a fridge for the school pantry.
- Funded the purchase of two badge makers.
- Provide catering funds for school events.
- Funded the purchase of two GoPros for Outdoor Education.
- Funded the purchase of rugby kits.
- Funded two staff members to receive their heavy rigid vehicle licence.
- Provided funding towards the Positive Behaviour Support Initiative.
- Funded the purchase of Kapa Haka Uniforms.
- Accessed grants to help with funding for various projects.
Research indicates that a strong collaborative school community is a significant factor in student success. The P&C is a key player in building and establishing a strong school community. To join the P&C, fill in an Expression of Interest form and drop it off at the office or come along to our meetings: Monday Week 5 of each term at 6pm at the school office.
