Phil Wass
Associate Principal - Year 9 & 10
Phil is a dedicated educational leader with over 15 years’ experience working in Metropolitan, Country and Remote high school settings. As a foundation member at Joseph Banks Secondary College, he has seen the expanding growth of the college and the opportunities it provides and is passionate about providing excellent outcomes for staff and students, particularly those in WA’s public schools.
As a PE teacher by trade, Phil grasped opportunities to gain leadership positions early in his career and has built his leadership portfolio through Domain Leader, Deputy Principal, Associate Principal and Leading Teacher positions. His portfolio includes Instructional Leadership and Intelligence, Cooperative Learning, Pathway Support and Mentoring.
In recent years, Phil has gained his Coaching Accreditation through Growth Coaching International and has committed his time to build the capacity of future leaders amongst staff and students at Joseph Banks Secondary College. He currently leads the WA Future Leaders Framework at the college, along with the Student Council.
Currently, Phil is overseeing the academic growth and development of the Year 9 and 10 cohorts. With his skillset in pathway support and mentoring, Phil is committed to providing a variety of opportunities for students in these year levels to ensure their successful transition into Senior School and beyond.
